Readying your home for sale

Hiring a professional home staging company is a really great way to showcase your home in its best light!

If you feel like you can stage yourself, then these few tips can go a long way:

De-cluttering and de-personalizing allows the new buyer to picture themselves in the home.

Kitchen & bathroom counter tops should be free of most items and appliances. Stage with a nice cutting board, lemons and/or some plants.

Put away the toothbrushes and medications. Toilet seats down.

Consider a garage sale or a storage container for your extra stuff. While a furnished home is ideal for photos, too many items or heavy furniture can be distracting.

A trip to a home decor store for extra pillows, towels, throw blankets and plants can go a long way in making your home look picture perfect.

Close your eyes & in the doorway of a room. Now open them. If something immediately jumps out at you, remove that item as it can detract from seeing the entire space.

Neutral bedding, carpeting or wall paint, such as Revere Pewter, can modernize the space.

Ensure your all your light fixtures have working bulbs and that they’re all the same colour temperature so they show up nicely in photos.

Hire a professional cleaner or give the home a deep clean. Baseboard, light fixtures and stove tops are often the most overlooked areas.

On the day of photoshoot, give the home a good vacuum and mop all floors. Give about 1/2 hr lead time to ensure floors are dry by the time photographer arrives.

Nature’s Miracle or Rocco & Roxie Odour Eliminator are ideal for eliminating pet & other odours. Candles and spray simply mask the smell.

Plants or flowers are an easy yet effective way to really add a comforting atmosphere to your space!
